Kenyan Safari - August 2017 Hotel, Nairobi Giraffe Centre and Sheldrake Elephant Orphanage

August 27th we left Heathrow on Kenyan Airways. As usual the staff were very good & polite, I recommend them.

August 28th arrived in Nairobi, very early! We were met outside by Virgin rep. Took an hour and a bit to reach the Sovereign Suites Hotel, wow, this is some place! I totally recommend a stay here, hence adding some pictures. The rooms were huge! The bathrooms had separate showers and baths, there was a dressing room as well as the bedroom with a full 4 poster. My son had a bathroom that was bigger than his bedroom. The whole place was gorgeous, I simply can't recommended it enough. The only down side was that I had a can of beer from the flight that I drank by the pool which they tried to charge my kids for from their mini bar. Interesting as they didn't stock the beer in question and didn't have cans either! A bit tacky from a high class hotel, but no real harm done other than annoyance. Got our rooms quickly and then off on the excurion to the DO NOT MISS Giraffe centre and Sheldrake Elephant Orphanage.

The Giraffe Centre gives you chance to feed the giraffes from a raised platform including mouth feeding. Giraffe saliva is slightly anticeptic, it helps them heal from the acacia tree spines. See the videos to see this in action. (I've posted 2 below). The Sheldrake orphanage gives you a close up experience with orpahed elephants and they are so cute. Another great place. All topped off with lunch in the Karen Blixen Coffee Gardens. A great day out.
